Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), the equivalent of Nadigar Sangam has decided to boycott the Kerala government function to honour Kamal Hassan for completing 50 years in the industry.
AMMA president and popular character actor Innocent said: “We have nothing against honoring Kamal Hassan. However we feel there are other artists in Malayalam cinema who have completed 50 years in cinema, and are worthy to be recognized by the state government. Why should an actor from outside the state be felicitated for such an honor?”
Innocent says AMMA would not be a part of the function but individual members are free to take part in the function. Mammootty and Mohanlal are expected to take part in the grand function on August 22, during Onam Tourism week celebrations to be held in Thiruvananthapuram.
