Mani Ratnam’s Tamil Raavanan released in 70 screens and Hindi Raavan in 5 screens in Kerala.
The film has taken an extraordinary opening with Ernakulam Shenoys and Padma reporting 100 percent opening for day one, mostly sold through the net. In smaller stations like Attingal and Perumbavoor the Tamil version has opened big.
Everybody wants to see the Tamil version, as Vikram and Prithviraj features in it. Says a theatre owner from Malabar: “The opening is as good as a Mammootty or a Mohanlal film and with Prithviraj romancing Aishwarya Rai, people are interested to watch it.”
Meanwhile Suriya’s Singam opened in Travancore and Cochin area yesterday (June 17), three weeks after its world release. The film has taken average opening, and Raavanan will kill it.
